{finding the bliss in the little things as morning sickness & anxiety & exhaustion threaten to take over my very existence}

the bliss list, by tracie

1. Air conditioning in the heat. Last summer, our air conditioning broke the WEEK I HAD A BABY IN JUNE. Not fun, especially when your bedroom is on the second floor. Our good friends saved us with their portable air conditioner until ours was fixed the next week. But this week I am especially grateful for an air conditioner that works a lot better than last year and keeps us cool (Full disclosure: in 95 degree weather. My Bakersfieldian friends have permission to laugh & mock me).

2. This face.

I love her so much. It's a daily occurrence where I just stare at her beautiful face, still in awe that she's MINE, a perfect blend of E + me. I hope I never forget what she's like right in this moment -- walking everywhere but still falling over a lot, pointing at everything, learning new words, cuddling on my shoulder, climbing & successfully head-diving over barricades to the stairs, putting her head on the ground between her legs so she can stare at her feet, smiling, making herself laugh when she reads her books, splashing herself til she's soaking wet in the pool or bath while giggling, having super important conversations with everyone she meets in her own language.

3. My husband who cooks & cleans & plays with baby girl when I'm sick, and all after a full-day's work.

4. Good friends across the world-- NYC, all over California, the other side of town, the other side of the point of the mountain, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, England, Beirut. I love to share in their lives-- good news, bad news, good days, bad days. Love my girls so much. I cherish our friendships.

5. Instagram connections with old friends. Is it weird I love this social network so much? I love to keep in touch with good friends that I've somehow lost contact with, and this is the perfect {albeit lazy} way for me to do so.

Disclaimer: I only have energy to re-design my blog a little at a time. It's only half-way done and this afternoon's session has been exhausting, so I'm off to take a nap.

  1. So happy for you about your new baby! I need to catch up!

  2. Beautiful Girl and family! I am stopping by from MBC and am a new follower. Hope you will join me at True Aim and link up at Mom's Library! Thanks for sharing a little bliss with us.

    1. Thank you so much!! Love your site! :)

  3. I hope you feel better soon! I've found for some reason I have less anxiety if its cold. Yay AC! I love reading your blog!

  4. I love the pictures you posted. Isla is so cute!

  5. Hi :) thanks for the reminder to enjoy the small things :) Stopping in from Made in a Day and am your newest follower !

  6. Friendships are something to be thankful for. Loved this post, great reminder to cherish the little things!

  7. AC is a godsend. I don't know how people survive without it. I was CLEARLY born in this era for a reason. Also, it's nice to see other people proclaim their love for social media. There are a lot of naysayers, but being a stay-at-home mom, I am so grateful for it. It's such a great way to connect and keep your friendships up when you're too busy chasing your baby to pick up the phone. It may be "lazy" but I think it's much better than nothing (insert rationalization).

  8. What a beautiful family and photos! Thanks for the mid-week reminder of being grateful for what I have (especially AC) right now! I found you on MBC and look forward to reading more. Would love for you to check out my blog and follow back. All the best,

  9. Your little girl has such pretty eyes!

    Anyway, I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. Congratulations!
